Together towards digital sovereignty
On 6 October 2026 in Luxembourg, a one-day European conference brought together those who no longer simply observe digital dependencies and unethical technologies, but are actively building the technologies Europe needs. Ethical tech makers, privacy advocates, open-source contributors, sustainability transformers, entrepreneurs, institutions, investors and civil society came together. They see fair and ethical technology as something shaped by practice, experience and dialogue, not a fixed checklist.
Twelve principles served as an open foundation for discussion, to be challenged, refined and expanded collectively. Our A-desk team has advocated them since 2012 and frugally adopts them in its smart management systems.
The twelve Fair Tech principles addressed:
- Digital Sovereignty
- Freedom
- Privacy
- Open Source
- Open Data
- Open Standards & Interoperability
- Fair Labour
- Repairability
- Sustainability
- Decentralisation / Federation
- Transparency
- Inclusiveness
